Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present with one's current experience objectively, without preference, and with compassion and acceptance.

 

There are many meditation techniques that allow the mind to calm, offering a point of focus for the mind on which to keep one's attention. Bit by bit, the mind acquires the ability to remain stable. A sense of space is created. True meditation is experienced in these spaces where one rests from the seemingly ceaseless chatter of thoughts and mind activity. With time and practice, the practitioner experiences a deeper connection, both within on'es internal environment as well as externally.

 

The benefits of mindfulness practice as well as meditation techniques include stress relief, emotional stability and a deeper connection to oneself... In the words of Swami Rama, "Meditation does what nothing else can do. It introduces you to your Self."
